Ah, Fashion Week. I do so love watching the shows online picking out my favourite trends for the upcoming months. This is one of the times it isso goodto live in the Southern Hemisphere. I can start wearing these trends now! There were so many fantastic trends this time around I’m so excited to see the 1970’s being a major overarching theme for the summer – it’s one of my favourite warm weather trends. Here are my picks for the top trends this summer, it’s what I’ll be shopping for wearing as soon as it starts to heat up in a couple months!

{Scarf: Missoni, Bikini: She Made Me, Halter Top: Topshop, Skirt: Topshop, Dress: Needle Thread, Crossbody bag: Sophie Anderson}

Crochet is one of my top favourites for this spring/summer. It’s such a versatile fabric that can be dressed up down. Chuck a fun, coloured crochet scarf on over a tee jeans, or choose a crocheted bikini this summer. A patterned skirt can look super cute for the office with a white shirt tucked in, this white crochet dress would be perfect for a summer wedding. If in doubt go for a smaller piece or an accessory, such as this bright, playful crossbody bag – it would look great with an all-white outfit, letting the colours really pop!

{Scarf: Gucci,Dress: Michael Kors,Button down shirt: Equipment, Tee: J. Crew, Camisole: J. Crew,Playsuit: Red Valentino}

Along with crochet, silk is a super popular fabric choice for spring/summer. The flowy fabric lends itself to soft draping beautiful, fresh colours. Throw a silk scarf on with your white shirt suit pants for the office, or pair a silk shirt or tee with jeans sandals for the weekend. A silk camisole looks stunning tucked into a printed pencil skirt who could say no to this adorable two-tone playsuit!

{Denim top: Tibi, Bikini: Lisa Marie Fernandez, Playsuit: Topshop,Dress: Topshop, Jumpsuit: Topshop}

The bare shoulders look has been growing in popularity but it will absolutely, without-a-doubt take off next spring/summer. At the moment the best place to get your hands on this trend is Topshop, hands down. They have some of the cutest pieces with a touch of 1950’s fun. This trend, whilst it might not fly in some more highly corporate/professional environments, I believe can definitely work in the office. Keep the rest of your look conservative with a midi skirt or pants you’ll do just fine. Although you can always look to Jessica Pearson’s wardrobe on ‘Suits’ as to how to work in bare shoulders in the office – just keep it >

{Dress: Missoni, Suede Top: Topshop, Miniskirt: Paul Joe, Suede skirt: Topshop, Pink Dress: DKNY, Peplum Top: Diane von Furstenberg}

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many bright colours on the catwalks for spring/summer as well as an influx of >

{Skirt: Paul Joe, Sandals: Topshop, Tunic: Tory Burch, Earrings: Baublebar, Clutch: Sam Edelman, Poncho: Topshop}

Fringing is also one of those trends that have been going strong for a while now. While it does lend a more casual air to your outfit there are definitely ways to style it up down. I would pair this skirt with a white button down for the office or a white tank for the weekend. The tan sandals would look great with skinny jeans or a navy pencil dress at work I just love the idea of the tunic with white jeans or cutoffs. These earrings are fabulous could be worn anywhere – the office, the beach, to a party – they’re so versatile! This clutch would be so much fun for a night out or on the weekends I love the thought of mixing the poncho with easy weekend separates.

There you have it! My spring/summer picks from the New York catwalks. I’m planning on wearing these trends when the weather heats up but in the meantime go forth shop!
